Any time I’m in Houston (which is going to be more often with my sister and her soon-to-be-husband living there) I have to make a stop at Pondicheri. It is my absolute favorite. I love it. I actually don’t think it’s a stretch to say it’s my favorite restaurant. And I would normally answer “not a lot” to the question “do you like Indian food?”
Their food is fantastic. Their bake lab? Out of this world.
And I’m not just saying that because my very own Uncle Mark heads it up. My uncle is a man of many talents. He was a Rhodes Scholar who went to Oxford. He speaks a handful of languages. He used to impress us as children with his skill of memorization. He’s been a successful attorney in Houston for decades. Oh, and this “little” restaurant gig on the side. It makes our Eisenbraun hearts swell with pride every time we get to sit down with Uncle Mark in Houston and bite into his latest creation.
This past visit I asked if I could come behind the counter to snap some pictures. There’s something wonderful about watching someone do a craft they love.
